HEAD & POSTURE

What should holding my head in the right posture feel like?

What good posture feels like will vary depending on where you are starting from. Many people let their heads fall forward a bit, with their chins slightly forward and up, and shoulders slouched forward. If this is the case, moving into a more upright posture will feel awkward at first. To achieve healthy posture, you can try imagining a string attached to the top of your head pulling straight up.

This image should help you lift your head up and back a bit, tucking your chin in a bit and creating space between the bottom of your ears and shoulders. Your ears should be in line with your shoulders while keeping your chin tucked in slightly (not poking up and out).

If you work at a computer achieving good posture might involve raising or lowering your screen so it sits at eye level and you don’t have to tilt your head.
