Whether you want to return to sport, tackle that half marathon or just be able to do the dishes again we can help! At NSSM our patients are our top priority.

All of our practitioners book patients every half hour, giving you double the time that other clinics provide. We take the time to listen, assess the issue, and develop an individualized plan.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is an effective approach to managing pain and maintaining overall well-being. Our massage therapists work with you to develop a treatment plan that may include massage, manual therapy, and carefully selected exercises such as stretching, strengthening and patient education that focus on rehabilitation. Our Registered Massage Therapists are deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of their clients, aiming to optimize health and functional abilities.

The soft tissues of the body are moved during a massage. Commonly used massage tools include hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, and devices. Generally speaking, massages are used to cure physical tension or discomfort.

The skin is a wonderful organ that covers the entire outside of the body and is packed with nerve endings, sensors, capillaries, glands, fat, and connective tissue. It is also the largest organ in your body. Meissner corpuscles, a type of nerve cell that is sensitive to light touch, are one example of a sensor in the skin that registers touch and sends messages to the brain to help with relaxing. This means that human skin contains several different kinds of nerve cells, each of which is sensitive to various degrees of touch.

When these various nerve cells are stimulated, signals are sent to the brain, which releases endorphins to make us feel good and relaxed.

Chiropractic Care

Discover the Power of Spinal Health

North Shore Sports Medicine is proud to offer Chiropractic Care out of our Brooksbank location. Visit our Online Booking Page to make an appointment!

Chiropractic care focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, including spinal manipulation, to help alleviate pain and discomfort in their patients. Regular visits to a chiropractor can provide a range of benefits, including improved posture, increased mobility, and reduced pain and stiffness.

Chiropractors use a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the body’s natural ability to heal itself. They work to identify the underlying causes of a patient’s pain or discomfort and develop a personalized treatment plan to address those issues. This can include a combination of spinal manipulation, exercise therapy, and lifestyle changes.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Born from the wisdom of China’s ancients, acupuncture is a traditional treatment method that involves the insertion of sterilized, single-use needles at specific points in the body.

Acupuncture is a complementary medicine technique that stimulates precise body points—most commonly through needle penetration—to relieve pain and assist in treating various health conditions. The process stimulates the central nervous system, leading to the release of chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. This biochemical change can trigger the body’s innate healing abilities and promote both physical and emotional well-being.

After a single session, you can expect noticeable changes in your body, mind, and energy levels. Acupuncture is frequently employed for pain management, sports injuries, ICBC recovery, women’s health, mental health, and facial rejuvenation.
